Facsimile of Commodore Perry Liston's 1878 diary, which recounts his journey from Utah through Arizona to New Mexico with Thomas Hatch and James Dean. Includes almost daily entries from January to May on the progress of their travels. Also includes genealogical information about Liston's family, a brief biography of Elizabeth Reeves by her daughter Ovilla Empey, and some unsigned notes dated St. George, 1860-1879.

He was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Iowa in 1850, married Elizabeth Reeves, and accompanied Thomas Hatch and James Dean from Utah to New Mexico in 1878.
